The Templar Order (Templars)

Shrouded in secrecy, the Templar Order has worked for untold centuries with the singular goal of bringing humanity under the uncontested control of an intellectual elite, by any means necessary. Believing that a free humanity is doomed to suffer chaos and destruction, The Order has worn many faces – including the seemingly devout Knights Templar of the Middle Ages and the far-reaching multi-national Abstergo Corporation of modern day – throughout history to accomplish its goals.

In the quest for control of human civilization, Templars have fanatically pursued the mythical Pieces of Eden, fragments of technology from an ancient civilization that would give them the power to establish themselves as the uncontested masters of the human race. The persistent Assassin Brotherhood has kept this fate at bay but now the dangerous Templar Order is stronger than ever and the future of humanity has never been in greater peril.

Cesare Borgia (1475 – 1507) was the illegitimate son of Rodrigo Borgia and a later enemy of Ezio. Just like his father before him, Cesare was a member of the Templar Order. He became Captain General of the Papal armies, which he used to try to take over Rome, and all of Italy afterward.

He quickly became Grand Master of the Templars in Italy, usurping the title completely after murdering his father. Despite his loyalty to the Templars, they were a secondary concern when compared to his own desire to control the powers of the Apple. Cesare Borgia was killed by Ezio in 1507, after being thrown of a roof.

Shay Cormac was born in 1731 in New York, but his mother died giving birth to him. After his father died in a storm Liam O’Brien introduced him to Achilles Davenport who trained him as an Assassin. After a mission in Lissabon, in which Shay killed thousands of innocents, he started to doubt the Brotherhood even more and decided to steal a manuscript. He was then shot by the Assassins and left for dead. After being saved by Templars, he joined their ranks and started to hunt members from the Assassin brotherhood.
